But the Netherlands had a half chance of their own in the 76th minute through Youssouf Sabaly. In the first half, Netherlands controlled the game and had the majority of the possession. They were a top-20 team in the world, and they looked good in the attacking third. The Dutch had a couple of chances to score in the first half, but they missed them. In the second half, Senegal were not dangerous in the attacking third. They also were not a threat in front of goal. They were also weakened due to Sadio Mane’s injury. The Netherlands lost Memphis Depay in the first half, and they missed a great chance to score early in the second half. Senegal also failed to score in the second half, but the Netherlands did score a late goal through Davy Klaassen. The Netherlands will face Ecuador on Friday in the second match of their Group A.
